Short Break · 3 Days / 2 Nights

Luxor Immersion

Three days in the world's greatest open-air museum — both banks properly done, with the illuminated temple at night as the hinge.

Overview

Luxor is routinely given a single frantic day; it holds more surviving monument than the rest of the country combined. This short break restores the missing time. The East Bank day takes Karnak at opening — an hour ahead of the coaches — and returns after dark for Luxor Temple floodlit along the restored Avenue of Sphinxes, which is simply a different monument at night. The West Bank day descends into three royal tombs chosen for colour and crowd patterns, then Hatshepsut's cliff-cut terraces and the Colossi of Memnon. The final morning is yours: a dawn balloon over the necropolis, the superb Luxor Museum, or nothing at all. It slots cleanly onto the front or back of any Cairo itinerary by flight or sleeper train.

Good to know

Which tombs are included in the Valley of the Kings?

The standard ticket covers three from the open rotation, and your guide will steer you to the best-painted of the day. Tutankhamun, Seti I and Ramses V/VI carry separate tickets we can pre-arrange.

Is the night visit to Luxor Temple worth it?

It is the single best-value evening in Egypt. The floodlighting recovers colour and depth that midday sun bleaches out, and the Avenue of Sphinxes lit end-to-end is unforgettable.

How do I combine this with Cairo?

Fly (55 minutes) or take the overnight sleeper in either direction. Most guests run Cairo first and use this break as the southern chapter; we time the transfers either way.
