Egypt visa questions
How much is an Egypt tourist visa in 2026?
US$30 for a single entry, whether you buy it on arrival at the airport or apply online for the e-Visa. The multiple-entry e-Visa is US$65. The single-entry fee rose from US$25 on 1 March 2026. Visa counters at the airport take cash in US dollars.
Can I get an Egypt visa on arrival?
Most European, North American and Asia-Pacific passports can, including all EU states, the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and South Korea. You buy it at a bank counter in the arrivals hall before passport control — it takes a few minutes. Some nationalities must apply for the e-Visa in advance instead, so check your own passport above.
How long does the Egypt e-Visa take?
Allow at least a week, and longer in peak season or if supporting documents are requested. It is issued by email as a PDF. If your passport is eligible for the visa on arrival, the e-Visa is optional — its only advantage is that you land with the visa already issued.
Which nationalities do not need a visa for Egypt?
Nationals of the Gulf Cooperation Council states — Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman — enter without a tourist visa for up to 14 days. Note the distinction between GCC *nationals* and GCC *residents*: a resident travelling on a different passport follows that passport's rule.
What is the Sinai-only entry permit?
If your whole trip stays inside Sharm el-Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba and Taba, many nationalities can be issued a free 15-day entry permit at Sinai entry points instead of buying a visa. It does not permit travel to Cairo, Luxor, Aswan or the Egyptian mainland — not even for a day trip. If the Pyramids are anywhere in your plans, buy the ordinary visa.
My nationality is not listed — what do I do?
Egypt sets entry rules for well over a hundred passports and they change. We only publish a nationality when we can corroborate its rule, because a wrong answer here costs someone their trip. If yours is not on this page, check the official portal at visa2egypt.gov.eg, or write to us — if you are travelling with Kemet we will confirm your exact requirement before anything is booked.
How long can I stay in Egypt as a tourist?
A single-entry tourist visa permits up to 30 days. Visa-exempt GCC nationals are admitted for up to 14 days. Extensions are handled inside Egypt by the passport authorities and take time, so plan around the limit rather than assuming you can extend.
Not sure which rule applies to you?
Tell us your nationality and your dates. We will confirm exactly what you need before anything is booked — and build the journey around it.
